DISTRACTION TRAINING

It can help to use this technique if your dog becomes fixated on something and develops a bad habit - i.e. starts barking or whining when telephone rings or vacuum cleaner starts.

  • Simply put a few pebbles/marbles in a small tin and keep handy.
  • Shake the tin when your dog is engrossed in something.
  • Reward and praise when dog responds.

CLICKER Training can also be used here.
A basic, but clear, booklet can be bought with the clicker.
